The 1996-1997 Earth House crew is marked by an increased diversity of social activism. Kate McLaughlin '97 is the president of the Feminist Majority, Laura Kaiser '99 is co-chair of Students Against Violence to the Environment SAVE John Hirsch '97 is the founder and temporary facilitator of a new campus group called Youth for Justice, Cliff Gibbons '98 is highly involved with Sexual Orientations United for Liberation (SOUL), and Jill Weinstein '98 is very involved with the Feminist Majority. This diversity is the result of a direct attempt by the Earth House to act as a network and bond for campus social activism.
Plans for the year include continuing the Earth House Newsletter and weekly column, planting a native plants landscape around the house (for info on this, contact Jens Hilke, Arboretum Intern, at (860) 439 - 5015), and getting involved with the local community.
